Dynamic Map Pointers

From the Anguilla Local News - Site Map.

Click any link below to see where in Anguilla that attraction is located. The Anguilla Local News and Offshore Information Services Ltd. have combined to create a dynamic map which can point to any location on Anguilla. We bought the right to use a professional map of Anguilla from Maps.com, a division of Magellan Geographix.

Click this link to see where Vince Cate's House is:

Vince's_house.
The actual href= link is formatted as follows:

http://online.offshore.com.ai/cgi-bin/plotmap.pl?234:214:Vince's_house

where 234 is the pixels across the map, 214 is the pixels down, and Vince's_house is the title (notice the Underscore, which will be replaced with a Space).

How to Find the Coordinates

Use Paint Shop Pro from JASC.

Save the map graphic in a local file.

Open the map GIF file in Paint Shop Pro.

Select a non-invasive tool such as the eye dropper, in case you click.

Point your mouse where you think the attraction is located.

Look down to the status bar and notice the pixel coordinates.

As a test, point to the dot that locates The Valley. It should be at (256,208). Create a link to 256:208:The_Valley and test it.

Map Pointers Desired

I would like to have a list of map pointers for every attraction on Anguilla:

Remaining Problems

On Lovie I have Netscape 3.0 configured with a very large font. I think the   is rendering to a large number of pixels and is throwing off the arrow somehow. The arrow ends up a few pixels too low. When I change the font size from 18 to 10, the problem goes away. If we just leave the   off, Netscape shows the arrow correctly. It also works correctly in IE 3.0 16-bit and 32-bit. I would take the   out.

It would be nice if the Title tag read "Vince's House - Anguilla Locator Map".
