Everything old is new again. On the road through Little Dix village, just before the left turn for Shoal Bay, a tiny store has opened this week by the side of the road. Actually, it is reopening after a hiatus of many years. The shop has been carefully and colorfully refurbished and repainted by the son in the same building where is father used to sell staples long ago. We stopped to buy two thatch brooms (the ones made from local thatch palms grown in the west end) and a bag of fresh local limes. It is like a small corner store, stocking a little of everything, but without a fridge. A friend of ours remembers being sent to "The Shop" by her mother in the fifties to buy small bags of sugar (rebagged by the shop from a 50 lb. sack).
