[Click to enlarge] One of the best Anguillian gourmet chefs is Shamash. Chef Shamash has moved back to Shoal Bay (hip-hip-hooray), reopening Zara's Restaurant at Allamanda Beach Club, after several years at Overlook with Chef Dion.

Zaras reopened on November 12th and we took a party of 9 for dinner a few nights later. Still excellent!

As with all popular places, reservations are suggested in the high season. Telephone: 264-497-3229.

Directions: starting in the airport parking lot, take the only exit and turn left, then continue straight past Island Car Rentals, the National Bank and straight into Stoney Ground village. Continue on this road until you see the paved left turn to Shoal Bay (about 2 miles). As you come down the hill into Shoal Bay, turn right on the gravel road at the bottom of the hill. Zara's is on the left in about 1/4 mile.

The menu, listed below, is more extensive than when Shamash was last at Shoal Bay in 1999. And our favorite menu item, Crusted Garlic Snapper (pictured here) is still on the menu!

November 2003: same menu and prices as last year, plus Cajun Fish Bites, Spagetti Bolognese, Lobster Mango Salad and Shrimp Linguini. We have updated menu below.
